Culbac® Probiotic  Plus™ Products for Forage: Helping Preserve, Enhance, and Protect Forage

Culbac forage (organic), hay, and silage products help preserve the nutritional quality of baled and ensiled crops by promoting the growth of lactic acid producing bacteria while preventing and inhibiting mildew, yeast, pathogens, and mold. Culbac Hay Dry, Culbac Hay Liquid, Culbac Forage,  Culbac Silage Dry  and Culbac Silage Liquid treatments help farmers to harvest and preserve the maximum amount of nutrients from their acres while minimizing losses during storage.

Maximal nutrients in hay results from the leaf to stem ratio. Keeping more leaves in the bale and ensuring the palatability of the stems improves protein content, increases digestibility and retains full nutrient value.

For silage, the natural sugars included in the fermentate in our products jump start the silage fermentation process. This ensures more rapid feedout of your silage whether it is baled, bagged or bunkered. Antioxidants and anthocyanins prevent crust losses and seepage, maintaining the nutrient quality of silage and providing a higher return on investment.

Every Culbac product includes our Culbac® Probiotic Plus™Culbac® Probiotic Plus™ is a proprietary beneficial bacterial fermentation product that has undergone a special processing and is enhanced and stabilized to support the growth of good bacteria and minimize pathogens that can negatively impact your soil, plants or animals. Additional vitamins, minerals and amino acids are added to the formulations for extra benefit.  technology which is uniquely formulated using our proprietary bacteria and advanced fermentation process to meet the challenges associated with the different methods of crop harvest, storage and use of various crops.

  • Increases profitability and maximizes return on investment
Silage in Covered Pile

In Silage

  • Reduce the risk of crust or exposure loss
  • Prevent and inhibit mold, mildew, yeast, and pathogen growth in silage
  • Retain maximum nutrient levels by lowering pH more rapidly vs. competitor products
  • Minimize effluent losses
  • Increases profitability and maximizes return on investment

How does Culbac Hay work?

Culbac for Hay works as a preservative, a protectant, and like an inoculant.

When hay is cut and dried down, the nutritional elements in the hay can begin breaking down as well. When this happens, nutritional value, palatability, and digestibility decrease. Culbac for Hay prevents this breakdown, enhances digestibility and palatability and maximizes nutritional benefits to your animals. It also increases the economic value for quality premiums for the hay.

The benefits of Culbac for Hay are multi-fold.

After cutting hay, whether it is grass hay, alfalfa hay, or some other type of forage, Culbac products accelerate the drying process by changing the hydrostatic tension to allow the release of moisture on the outside of the hay and maintains the pliability of the stalk. Additionally, Culbac products allow baling at higher moistures allowing the leaves to stay on the stems without shattering. This maintains the protein and nutritional value of hay. The protection from natural lactic acid in Culbac products along with other natural preservatives ensures that you will not have losses due to molds, mildews, yeast, or pathogenic bacteria. This prevents heating of the hay to avoid damage and loss of value.

How does Culbac Silage work?

Culbac for Silage works as an inoculant, a protectant from mold and mildew and as a fermentation aid.

Silage is fermented in anaerobic conditions which is essential for enabling the beneficial lactic acid bacteria to outcompete pathogens that lower nutritional value and cause the silage to rot. Culbac products actively limit these pathogens and inhibit fungal damage as well. Applying Culbac Silage to the silage will boost the good bacteria and antioxidants by feeding them to reduce dry matter loss and preserve protein content.

The benefits of Culbac Silage

Culbac Silage contains lactic acid which immediately lowers the pH upon application, even in forages with high buffering capacity. Unlike competitor products, Culbac products rapidly drop pH helping inhibit unwanted pathogens, molds and mildews. The antioxidants prevent crust loss and effluent maintaining high feeding value. Culbac Silage also contains natural sugars in the fermentate which jumpstarts silage fermentation.

What makes Culbac products different from the competition?

Dried Alfalfa in Hands

Culbac Hay is a strong preservative to avoid hay loss. It dries down faster and allows baling at higher moistures to save time and beat the elements. Unlike propionic acid which is highly corrosive and requires much higher inclusion rates, Culbac products contain natural acids and are therefore non-corrosive and do not require high inclusion rates to be effective.

Culbac Silage rapidly lowers the pH, reduces oxidation and accelerates the fermentation more quickly than competitor products. Culbac Silage shortens time to feed out by weeks.

Both Culbac Hay and Culbac Silage are concentrated formulations and therefore less expensive per acre of crop compared to other products on the market. Culbac Hay and Culbac Silage are shelf stable and do not require refrigeration to maintain effectiveness.

When incorporated with a balanced feed program, Culbac Hay and Silage maintain maximum nutritive value of the forage which reduces the need for additional supplements.
