Help grass seeds off to a better, faster start

Every homeowner knows that establishing turf from seed can be a daunting task. Depending on soil conditions and the species, grass seeds can take up to several weeks to emerge. During that time, the sown seeds are vulnerable to erosion, whether through high winds or torrential rains, or to the foraging of pests, such as birds.

Fortunately, Culbac® Commercial Seed Treatment, a biostimulant derived from fermenting a unique strain of Proprietary Strain of Lactobacillus Fermentation Product in a nutrient medium containing seaweed, can get grass seeds off to a faster and better start. When used as a seed treatment, Culbac® Commercial Seed Treatment has two major benefits: it reduces the amount of days between planting and emergence, and it promotes vigorous root growth in the grass seedlings

The following greenhouse trial using Pencross Bentgrass demonstrates the advantages of using Culbac® Commercial Seed Treatment. The chart below displays emergence data for the grass seeds.

In the trial referenced above, the Culbac®-treated grass seeds showed higher emergence rates than the untreated seeds at 4–7 days post-seeding. For instance, at five days post-seeding, approximately 28% of the Culbac®-treated seeds had emerged, compared to only 5% for the untreated seeds.
The entire trial lasted for a period of four months. At the end of the trial, the amount root organic matter produced by the Pencross Bentgrass was measured and recorded. The average mass of the root organic matter for both groups is displayed in the graph at right.

The Pencross Bentgrass that was given Culbac® Commercial Seed Treatment produced an average of 37.19% more root organic matter than the untreated controls.
What does this data mean to customers planting Culbac®-treated grass seed? A faster emergence means that their newly-seeded plot will be greener earlier. A deeper, more advanced root system means that the seedlings can better utilize the soil nutrients available to them while at the same time requiring less water than grass from untreated seeds.
Culbac® Commercial Seed Treatment helps ensure that you will get the most out of your grass seed.
